Karen Giles-Smith, M.S., R.D.
Prior to joining UDIM, Karen was a clinical dietitian at William Beaumont Hospital in Royal Oak.  She served as President of the Lansing Dietetic Association for two years and as a Board member for eight years.  Karen received the 2004 Michigan Registered Dietitian of the Year Award from the Michigan Dietetic Association.

Karen received a Bachelor of Science in Food Science and Nutrition from Marygrove College in Detroit, and a Master of Science in Human Nutrition from Case Western Reserve University in Cleveland, Ohio.  She completed a dietetic internship at University Hospitals of Cleveland and is currently pursuing a Master of Arts in Communications.

 

Staci Garcia
Staci Garcia serves as the Coordinator of Public and Member Relations for the United Dairy Industry of Michigan.  In this role, she manages food publicity and public relations programs promoting the taste appeal and versatility of dairy products.  In addition to serving as a liaison to the state’s dairy farmers, her work puts her in contact with educators, youth and retailers on a regular basis. 

 Staci has more than 14 years of combined experience in education, public relations and human services.  Throughout her career, she has served on numerous local and statewide boards focusing on health and social issues that impact Michigan residents.

 Staci received a Bachelor of Arts in Communication from Michigan State University.
